La Haula Wala Quwwata Illa Billa & My Project My Children

LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA

All praise is due to Allah, we seek his help and forgiveness, we seek refuge with him from the evils of ourselves and the evils of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides cannot be misguided by anyone and whoever Allah sets astray cannot be guided by anyone. I bear witness that none deserves the right to be worshiped except Allah alone who has no partner and I bear witness that our master Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

O servants of Allah, indeed it is part of the mercy of Allah the exalted towards his servants that he (the exalted) guided them to the path of his Dhikr (or remembrance). He guided them to the path that leads to him and to the best methods of Dhikr that Allah loves and which bring about closeness to him. Among these great and precious words is: “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”, meaning: ‘There is no might and no power except by Allah’. Indeed, the condition of any servant does not change, things don’t get easy for them and/or they don’t get the strength to carry out any activity except by Allah’s help and will. The entirety of servants are poor before Allah, they can never do without him and none of them can escape sins except with his protection, Allah says: “And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.” [8:24].

Servants of Allah, indeed in “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA” there is affirmation of the actual meaning of servitude (to Allah) and there is exhibition of poverty before Allah by servants through the seeking of help in every aspect of their lives. One of the meanings of this great word is the affirmation from a servant that: There is no escape from sins except with the help and protection of Allah, and on the other hand, no servant has the strength to worship Allah except with a divine help from Allah the exalted. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We (servants) don’t own anything before Allah, we don’t get anything from other than him and we don’t own except that which he bestowed upon us out of his countless possessions. We therefore can’t take from what we adore except by Allah’s grace and we can’t escape from what we dislike except with Allah’s aid.

Sheikhul Islam (May Allah have mercy upon him) said: Saying of “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA” should be your norm, it is with it that weighty things are lifted, difficulties are confronted and high places are achieved. (It should be) the supplication that you never abandon and the remembrance that you never desist from.

You should intensify the saying of “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”, a lot of people think it is only said when calamities befall, that’s not true, rather, it is said always and in all conditions. The one said during calamities is: “INNALILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJI’UN”. You should train yourselves and your children on the intensification of “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”, spread the word on your streets and places of work. Indeed whoever says it and contemplates on it has succeeded, because it is a treasure among the treasures of Jannah/paradise. It is said four times during the call to prayer, when getting out of the house and at bedtime.

Among the conditions in which “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA” is recited are:

• When the Mu’azzin says ‘Hayya Alassala’ and ‘Hayya alalfalaah’, the listener is expected to say “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”.

• When someone witnesses the blessings of Allah upon him, as a believer said to his friend as narrated in the Quran: “And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children” [18:39]. Ibn Taimiyya said: “…That’s why whoever is afraid of evil eye on anything is commanded to say it”. Ibn Azzubair used to repeat whenever he entered his house: “MASHA ‘ALLAHU LA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH” until he gets out. Imam Malik said: “It is strongly recommended that whoever enters his house should say “MASHA ‘ALLAHU LA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH”.

• It is one of the Dhikr recited at bedtime. The messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever says, when he goes to his bed:

Allah will forgive all his sins/shortcomings will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea.

• It is also one of the Dhikr that is recited when someone changes posture in bed during the night and during sleeplessness. The messenger (Peace be upon him) said: “

"Whoever gets up at night and says:

(Meaning: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. He is the Only One and has no partners . For Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are due for Him. He is Omnipotent. All the praises are for Allah. All the glories are for Allah. And none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, And Allah is Great And there is neither Might nor Power Except with Allah).

And then says: -- (O Allah! Forgive me). Or invokes (Allah), he will be responded to and if he performs ablution (and prays), his prayer will be accepted."

• It is also one of the supplications recited while leaving home, Allah protects a Muslim who recites it from the devils. The messenger (Peace be upon him) said:

When a man goes out of his house and says:

(Meaning: In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah)

the following will be said to him at that time: "You are guided, defended and protected." The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?

• It is also said after every obligatory prayer, the messenger (peace be upon him) used to say after every prayer:

Among the virtues of “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA” are:

1. It is a treasure among the treasures of paradise. The messenger (Peace be upon him) as narrated by Bukhari and Muslim said: "O Abdullah bin Qais, should I not point you to one of the treasures of Paradise?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." So he told me to say: “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”.

2. It is a door to paradise. The messenger (peace be upon him) said to one of his companions: “Should I not direct you to a gate from the gates of Paradise?’ I said: ‘Of course.” He  said: “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA”.

3. It is one of the causes of expiation of sins. The messenger (Peace be upon him) said:  There is no man on this earth who says:

except that Allah forgives his sins even if it is more than the foam of the sea”

4. It is among the most beloved words to Allah. The prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “The words which Allah loves most are:

5. Whoever says it, his/her hand is filled with goodness. A man came to the Prophet () and said: I cannot memorise anything from the Qur'an: so teach me something which is sufficient for me. He said: Say

He said: Messenger of Allah, this is for Allah, but what is for me? He said: Say: O Allah have mercy on me, and sustain me, and keep me well, and guide me. When he stood up, he made a sign with his hand (indicating that he had earned a lot).

The Messenger of Allah () said: He filed up his hand with virtues.

6. It is among the enduring good deeds that are expected to be of high benefit in the hereafter. Abdullah Ibn Umar used to tell people sitting around him during Hajj: “Why are you not talking! Why don’t you say

Every good deed is rewarded ten times to seven hundred times, If you increase in goodness, Allah will increase (his rewards) for you.

7. Saying “LA HAULA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLA” distances someone from arrogance, it cleanses the heart, it calms the heart and trains it on patience, it destroys Satan, Allah expiates sins with it and elevates one’s status with it.

8. It is among the best of Dhikr, with it Allah repels difficulties, with it invocations are opened and it is said after every meal.

Finally, there are different versions of these precious wordings, it is highly recommended that we learn them. These include:

MY PROJECT MY CHILDREN

_When I am lazy at the performance of superogatory worship, I remember my children and the misfortunes of the world!! And I consider Allah's saying,_

_*“And their father was righteous”*_  _Suratul Kahf verse 82._

_So have mercy on them (your children) and strive hard – A sincere thinking._

_Your successful project is (your children), and for the success of this project, follow what the great companion "Abdullah bin Masoud" told us when he was praying at night with his young son asleep and he looked at him saying; “For your sake,O son! and he recited while crying; _*“And their father was good.”*_

_On the authority of Sa’eed bin Al-Musayyib, that whenever he wanted to pray (observe) the night prayer, he looked at his son, and he said; “I will add more in my prayers, may God bless you, may God protect you, then he cried while he recited the words of God Almighty,  _*“And their father was righteous* ”._

_Yes, this is the magic formula for the goodness of our children. If the father is a role model and has a_good relationship_ _with God, God will_ _preserve his sons and even the children of his children. This is a divine equation._

_Also, in the story of Surat Al-Kahf, God preserved the treasure for the_ _children with goodness of their seventh grandfather._

_In the context of this hadith, I was reminded that I was once with a friend of mine, Ali: who_ _has a high position in Kuwait and worked in several government_ _committees and yet he used to spare hours daily for charitable work. So, I_ _said to him one day; "Why don't you focus_ _your activity on your government work when you have a high_ _position?" He looked at me and said; "I want to_ _reveal to you a secret of myself, that I have more than six children and_ _most of them are males, and I fear for them from deviation because I fall short of their upbringing, but I_ saw from God's _blessings on me that the more I give my Lord more of my time the more my_ _children will be reconciled."_

_I chose it for you, because I love for you what I love for myself. May God make you_ _happy in this world and the hereafter and save you, our parents, people and those who love us_ _from the fire of hell. Oh God! I intend this_ _message to serve as charity for my children, and to serve as a_ _determent for them from delinquencies and all evils._

_Re-send it to your loved ones with the intention of giving your children the truth._

_Send it to PARENT'S and children._
