بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيم
Bismillah
Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah. As-Salaam Alaikum
Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu.
Alhamdulillah, nahmaduhu wa nasta’inuhu wa nastahdiihi
wanastaghfiruhu. Wa na’uzubillahi min shururi anfusina, wa minsayyi’aati
‘a’maalina. Man yahdihillahi fala mudhillallah waman yudhlil fala haadiyalah.
Wa nash-hadu alla ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, wa nash-hadu anna
Muhmmadan ‘abduhu wa Rasuluhu.
Praise be to
Allaah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with
Allaah from the evil of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whomsoever
Allaah guides cannot be misled, and whomsoever He leaves astray cannot be
guided. I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah alone, with no
partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and
Messenger (sallalahu alaihi wa salaam).
يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا
تَفۡعَلُونَ (٢) ڪَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَن تَقُولُواْ مَا لَا تَفۡعَلُونَ
(٣)
‘’O
ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not? Grievously odious is it in the
sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.’’ (Holy Quran chapter 61: 2-3)
وَلَا
تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡبَصَرَ وَٱلۡفُؤَادَ
كُلُّ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ كَانَ عَنۡهُ مَسۡـُٔولاً۬ (٣٦)
And
do not occupy yourself with what you have no knowledge of. The hearing, and the
sight, and the brains—all these will be questioned. (Holy Quran Chapter 17:36).
حَتَّىٰٓ
إِذَا مَا جَآءُوهَا شَہِدَ عَلَيۡہِمۡ سَمۡعُهُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ وَجُلُودُهُم
بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ (٢٠) وَقَالُواْ لِجُلُودِهِمۡ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمۡ
عَلَيۡنَاۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَنطَقَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَهُوَ
خَلَقَكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ۬ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ (٢١)
At length, when they reach the (Fire), their hearing, their
sight, and their skins will bear witness against them, as to (all) their deeds.
They will say to their skins: "Why bear ye witness against us?" They
will say: "Allah hath given us speech― (He) Who giveth speech to
everything: He created you for the first time, and unto Him were ye to return.
(Holy Quran Chapter 41:20-21)
WARNING & DANGER - REASONS TO AVOID
SINS
Warning! Keep away from all sin, (minor & major), and
beware of it and avoid it, for sin is bad news for the one who does it. Why?
Well, there are reasons:
1. You will be deprived of provision. The Messenger of
Allah (peace be upon him) said: ‘A person is deprived of provision because of
the sins that he or she commits.’” [Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 4022]
2. Things will become difficult for him or her, so that
he or she does not turn his/her attention towards any matter, but he/she finds
the way blocked or he/she finds it difficult. By the same token, for the one
who fears Allah, things are made easy for him or her.
3. You will be deprived of knowledge because knowledge is
light that Allah causes to reach the heart, and sin extinguishes that light.
When Imam As-Shaafa’i sat before Maalik and read to him, he admired him because
of the intelligence, alertness and understanding that he saw in him. He said,
“I think that Allah has caused light to enter your heart, so do not extinguish
it with the darkness of sin.”
4. Sin weakens a person’s willpower.
a)
It gradually
strengthens their will to commit sin,
b)
and weakens
their will to repent until there is no will in their heart to repent at all… so
they seek forgiveness and expresses repentance, but it is merely words on the
lips, like the repentance of the liars, whose hearts are still determined to
commit sin and persist in it.
c)
This is one of
the most serious diseases that are most likely to lead to doom.
d)
Now, do you
understand why some people complain: “I don’t feel joy in worship” or “reading
the Quran doesn’t move me”.
5. It deprivation of worship and obedience.
a.
If sin brought
no punishment other than that, it prevents a person from doing an act of
worship which is the opposite of sin, and cuts off access to other acts of
worship, that would be bad enough.
b.
So the sin cuts
off a third way and a fourth way and so on, and because of the sin he/she is
cut off from many acts of worship, each of which would have been better for
him/her than this world and everything in it.
c.
So he/she is
like a person who eats food that is bound to cause a lengthy sickness, and thus
he/she is deprived of many other foods that are better than that. And Allah is
the One Whose help we seek.
6. When someone sins, there is sense of alienation that
comes between a person and their Lord, and between them and other people. One
of the past righteous predecessors said: “If I disobey Allah, I see that in the
attitude of my riding beast and my wife.”
7. Even worst, sin breeds sin until it dominates a person
and they cannot escape from it.
8. The sinners will find darkness in their heart, which
they will feel just as they feel the darkness of night.
a.
So this
darkness affects their heart as the physical darkness affects their vision.
b.
For obedience
is light and disobedience is darkness.
c.
The stronger
the darkness grows, the greater becomes their confusion, until they fall into
innovation, misguidance and other things that lead to doom, without even
realizing,
d.
like a blind
man who goes out in the darkness of the night, walking alone.
e.
This darkness
grows stronger until it covers the eyes, then it grows stronger until it covers
the face, which appears dark and is seen by everyone.
f.
Abdullah ibn
Abbas said: “Good deeds make the face light, give light to the heart, and bring
about ample provision, physical strength and love in people’s hearts. Bad deeds
make the face dark, give darkness to the heart, and bring about physical
weakness, a lack of provision and hatred in people’s hearts.”
9. A sinner becomes desensitized and will no longer find
sin abhorrent, so it will become his habit, and he will not be bothered if
people see him committing the sin or talk about him.
How this starts is that the heart gets stained by sin,
and if the sin increases then the stain grows bigger until it becomes the raan (covering of sin and evil deeds),
then it increases until it becomes a seal, and the heart becomes covered and
sealed.
If that happens after a person had been guided and had
understood, then his or her heart is turned upside down, and at that point the
Shaytan gains control over him or her, and directs him or her as he (the
shaytan) wants.
So be-careful my dear brothers and sisters in Islam, and
do your best to avoid any sin as much as possible. May Allah guide us and
protect us from All evil!
SO WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ERASE SINS
YOU ASK?
Well! The traces of sin may be erased by means of:
a.
sincere
repentance,
b.
good deeds that
erase sin,
c.
Wudu
d.
the five daily
prayers
e.
Hajj and Umrah
f.
heartfelt
affirmation of the Oneness of Allah (Tawheed),
[End quote from Hidaayat al-Hayaari, p. 130 ].
The greatest of good deeds is Tawheed (affirmation of the
Oneness of Allah), and the gravest of evil deeds is kufr (disbelief) and shirk
(ascribing partners to Allah).
Also, saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah (there is no god but
Allah) is the greatest of good deeds, and the most sublime of the branches of
faith, as the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
“Faith has seventy-odd – or sixty-odd – branches, the
best of which is saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, and the least of which is
removing something harmful from the road, and modesty is a branch of faith.”
[Narrated by al-Bukhaari (9) and Muslim (35), from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah.
]
In another hadith (Hadith Qudsi), the prophet (peace be
upon him) said:
“Whoever does a good deed will have a tenfold reward and
more, and whoever does a bad deed its recompense is one like it, or I will
forgive him or her.” [Muslim narrated in his Saheeh (2687)]
In fact, Allah offers a great promise to those who fear
Him:
مَن كَانَ يُؤۡمِنُ
بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِۚ وَمَن يَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ يَجۡعَل لَّهُ ۥ
مَخۡرَجً۬ا (٢)
“And whosoever
fears Allah and keeps his [her] duty to Him, He will make a way for him[her] to
get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him[her] from (sources)
that he or she never could imagine” [at-Talaaq 65:2]
The one who fears Allah is the one:
a.
who fulfills
obligatory duties and avoids things that are forbidden.
b.
That also
includes the one who sins, then repents and turns to Allah,
c.
and the one who
goes back to sin, then repents from it again, because piety or fearing Allah,
may He be exalted, means doing what is enjoined and refraining from what is forbidden.
It is not stipulated that the pious one who fears Allah
should be infallible and free of bad deeds, otherwise most people would be
deprived of this honour and virtue.
For every son of Adam sins; and the best of those who sin
are those who repent. The one who sins then repents is one of the pious for
whom there is the hope of the promise mentioned in the verse quoted above.
The grace of Allah is vast, and what matters is that each
individual should focus on striving.
