DAY OF RESURRECTION – RESTORATION THEN YOU WILL BE RETURNED TO ALLAH (SWT)
Assembled by Mallam Abba Abana issued and dated 20 February 2021
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah. As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu. Amma Ba’d.
Praise be to Allaah; we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) is His slave and Messenger.
Preamble
Beliefs and practices
The Five Pillars of Islam are central to Muslims in showing their submission to the will of Allah.
Muslim teaching about resurrection, judgement and life after death.
‘Akhirah’, or the belief in life after death, is central to the Muslim faith.
For a Muslim, this life is not our total existence, but simply a small part of it. Muslims believe it is our chance to follow Allah's will and live a good life - or to turn our back on his laws.
Muslims believe that we will have to have to answer to Allah for the way we have chosen to live and believe that on a day decided by Allah, and known only to Allah, life on Earth will come to an end and Allah will destroy everything. On this day, all the people who have ever lived will be raised from the dead and will face judgement by Allah.
Muslims believe that they will remain in their graves until this day, which is called by different names:
1) the Day of Resurrection (Yawm Al-Qiyamah)
2) the Day of Judgement (Yawm Ad-Din)
3) the Last Hour (As-Sa’a)
Allah will judge a person’s actions as well as their faith – believers will be forgiven for their sins and go to Heaven, those who do not believe will go to Hell.
Of the good that they do nothing will be rejected of them; for Allah knoweth well those that do right.
وَوُفِّيَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ۬ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَفۡعَلُونَ (٧٠)
And to every soul will be paid in full (the fruit) of its deeds; and (Allah) knoweth best all that they do. (Quran Surah 39:70).
Where will everyone gather on the Day of Judgement?
When Allah's purpose for the universe has been fulfilled, the world will be destroyed. When the world ends, Angel Israfil will sound a trumpet and there will be a resurrection. All the dead bodies will be raised and will gather on the plain land of Al-Shaam for the gathering and the resurrection for the final judgement.
The gathering of mankind will be in Al-Shaam not in ‘Arafaah
Shaykh Sa’d al-Humayd
Rather it is proven in the saheeh hadeeth that the gathering will be in al-Shaam (Greater Syria, including Palestine). It was narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Al-Shaam is the land of the gathering and the resurrection.” (Narrated by Ahmad).
Al-Manaawi said in Fath al-Qadeer: “i.e., it is the place where the people will be gathered for the Reckoning. They will be resurrected from their graves then they will be driven to that land. It has been singled out for this because it is the land of which Allaah said (interpretation of the meaning): ‘the land which We have blessed for the ‘Aalameen (mankind and jinn)’ [Quran al-Anbiya’ 21:71]. Most of the Prophets were sent from that land and their laws spread throughout the world, so it is appropriate that it should be the land of the gathering and the resurrection.” (Fayd al-Qadeer by al-Manaawi, vol. 4, p. 171).
But the gathering of the people on Hajj at ‘Arafaah reminds the Muslim of the gathering of all of mankind for the Reckoning and requital (reward or punishment). And Allaah knows best.

Quranic texts that warned Muslims on Day of Resurrection – Restoration
How can you reject Allah, when you were dead and then He gave you life, then He will make you die and then give you life again, then you will be returned to Him? (Quran Surah 2:28)
Then We brought you back to life after your death, so that perhaps you would show thanks. (Quran Surah 2:56)
We said, 'Hit (the dead body) with part of the (sacrificed cow)!' In that way Allah gives life to the dead and He shows you His Signs so that hopefully you will understand. (Quran Surah 2:73)
In the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and day, and the ships which sail the seas to people's benefit, and the water which Allah sends down from the sky-by which He brings the earth to life when it was dead and scatters about in it creatures of every kind-and the varying direction of the winds, and the clouds subservient between heaven and earth, there are Signs for people who use their intellect. (Quran Surah 2:164)
What do you think about those who left their homes in thousands in fear of death? Allah said to them, 'Die!' and then brought them back to life. Allah shows great favour to mankind, but most people are not grateful. (Quran Surah 2:243)
Or the one who passed by a town which had fallen into ruin? He asked, 'How can Allah restore this to life when it has died?' Allah caused him to die a hundred years then brought him back to life. Then He asked, 'How long have you been here?' He replied, 'I have been here a day or part of a day.' He said, 'Not so! You have been here a hundred years. Look at your food and drink-it has not gone bad-and look at your donkey so We can make you a Sign for all mankind. Look at the bones-how We raise them up and clothe them in flesh.' When it had become clear to him, he said, 'Now I know that Allah has power over all things.' (Quran Surah 2:259)
When Ibrahim said, 'My Lord, show me how You bring the dead to life.' He asked, 'Do you not then believe?' He replied, 'Indeed I do! But so that my heart may be at peace.' He said, 'Take four birds and train them to yourself. Then put a part of them on each mountain and call to them; they will come rushing to you. Know that Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.' (Quran Surah 2:260)
They say, 'There is nothing but this life and we will not be raised again.' (Quran Surah 6:29)
Only those who can hear respond. As for the dead, Allah will raise them up, then to Him they will be returned. (Quran Surah 6:36)
It is He Who takes you back to Himself at night, while knowing the things you perpetrate by day, and then raises you again to life, so that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then you will return to Him. Then He will inform you about what you did. (Quran Surah 6:60)
Is someone who was dead and whom We brought to life, supplying him with a light by which to walk among people, the same as someone who is in utter darkness, unable to emerge from it? That is how what they were doing is made to seem attractive to the disbelievers. (Quran Surah 6:122)
He (Satan) said, 'Grant me a reprieve until the day they are raised up.' (Quran Surah 7:14)
It is He Who sends out the winds, bringing advance news of His mercy, so that when they have lifted up the heavy clouds, We dispatch them to a dead land and send down water to it, by means of which We bring forth all kinds of fruit. In the same way We will bring forth the dead, so that hopefully you will pay heed. (Quran Surah 7:57)
He gives life and causes to die and you will be returned to Him. (Quran Surah 10:56)
It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in six days when His Throne was on the water, in order to test which of you has the best actions. If you say, 'You will be raised up after death,' those who disbelieve will say, 'This is nothing but downright magic.' (Quran Surah 11:7)
He (Satan) said, 'My Lord, grant me a reprieve until the Day they are raised again.' (15:36)
They are dead, not alive, and they are not aware of when they will be raised. (Quran Surah 16:21)
They swear by Allah with their most earnest oaths that Allah will not raise up those who die, when, on the contrary, it is a binding promise on Him; but most people do not know it. (Quran Surah 16:38)
(They will be raised up), so that He can make clear to them the things they differed about and so that those who disbelieved will know that they were liars. (Quran Surah 16:39)
Allah sends down water from the sky and by it brings the dead earth back to life. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who hear. (Quran Surah 16:65)
They say, 'What! When we are bones and crumbled dust, will we then be raised up as a new creation!' (Quran Surah 17:49)
That is their repayment for rejecting Our Signs and saying, 'What, when we are bones and crumbled dust, will we then be raised up as a new creation?' (Quran Surah 17:98)
That was the situation when we raised them up (from sleep) so they could question one another. One of them asked, 'How long have you been here?' They replied, 'We have been here for a day or part of a day.' They said, 'Your Lord knows best how long you have been here. Send one of your number into the city with this silver you have, so he can see which food is purest and bring you some of it to eat. But he should go about with caution so that no one is aware of you.' (Quran Surah 18:19)
Or have they taken gods out of the earth who can bring the dead to life? (Quran Surah 21:21)
Mankind! If you are in any doubt about the Rising, know that We created you from dust then from a drop of sperm then from a clot of blood then from a lump of flesh, formed yet unformed, so We may make things clear to you. We make whatever We want stay in the womb until a specified time and then We bring you out as children so that you can reach your full maturity. Some of you die and some of you revert to the lowest form of life so that, after having knowledge, they then know nothing at all. And you see the earth dead and barren; then when We send down water onto it it quivers and swells and sprouts with luxuriant plants of every kind. (Quran Surah 22:5)
That is because Allah is the Real and gives life to the dead and has power over all things and the Hour is coming without any doubt and Allah will raise up all those in the graves. (Quran Surah 22:6-7)
It is He Who gave you life and then will cause you to die and then will give you life again. Man is truly ungrateful. (Quran Surah 22:66)
Then on the Day of Rising you will be raised again. (Quran Surah 23:16)
Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones you will be brought forth again? (Quran Surah 23:35)
What is there but our life in this world? We die and we live and we will not be raised again. (Quran Surah 23:37)
They say, 'When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again?' (Quran Surah 23:82)
When death comes to one of them, he says, 'My Lord, send me back again so that perhaps I may act rightly regarding the things I failed to do!' No indeed! It is just words he utters. Before them there is an interspace until the Day they are raised up. (Quran Surah 23:99-100)
But they have adopted gods apart from Him which do not create anything but are themselves created. They have no power to harm or help themselves. They have no power over death or life or resurrection. (Quran Surah 25:3)
They themselves have come across the city which was rained on by an evil rain. Did they not then see it? But they do not expect to rise again. (Quran Surah 25:40)
(Ibrahim said, 'It is) He Who will cause my death, then give me life.' (Quran Surah 26:81)
(Ibrahim said, 'My Lord,) do not disgrace me on the Day they are raised up.' (Quran Surah 26:87)
Say: 'No one in the heavens and the earth knows the Unseen except Allah.' They are not aware of when they will be raised. (Quran Surah 27:65)
Those who disbelieve say, 'When we and our fathers are turned to dust will we then be brought forth again? We have been promised (to be brought forth again) before, we and our fathers. This is nothing but myths and legends of previous peoples.' (Quran Surah 27:67-68)
If you ask them, 'Who sends down water from the sky, bringing the earth back to life again after it was dead?' they will say, 'Allah.' Say: 'Praise be to Allah.' But most of them do not use their intellect. (Quran Surah 29:63)
He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living and brings the earth to life after it was dead. In the same way you too will be brought forth. (Quran Surah 30:19)
Among His Signs is that He shows you lightning, a source of fear and eager hope, and sends down water from the sky, bringing the dead earth back to life by it. There are certainly Signs in that for people who use their intellect. (Quran Surah 30:24).
Allah is He Who created you, then provides for you, then will cause you to die and then bring you back to life. Can any of your partner-gods do any of that? Glory be to Him and may He be exalted above anything they associate with Him! (Quran Surah 30:40)
So look at the effect of the mercy of Allah, how He brings the dead earth back to life. Truly He is the One Who brings the dead to life. He has power over all things. (Quran Surah 30:50)
Those who have been given knowledge and faith will say, 'You tarried in accordance with Allah's Decree until the Day of Rising. And this is the Day of Rising, but you did not know it.' (Quran Surah 30:56)
Your creation and rising is only like that of a single self. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (Quran Surah 31:28)
It is Allah Who sends the winds which raise the clouds which We then drive to a dead land and by them bring the earth to life after it was dead. That is how the Resurrection will be. (Quran Surah 35:9)
We bring the dead to life and We record what they send ahead and what they leave behind. We have listed everything in a clear register. (Quran Surah 36:12)
A Sign for them is the dead land which We bring to life and from which We bring forth grain of which they eat. (Quran Surah 36:33)
The Trumpet will be blown and at once they will be sliding from their graves towards their Lord. (Quran Surah 36:51)
They will say, 'Alas for us! Who has raised us from our resting-place? This is what the All-Merciful promised us. The Messengers were telling the truth.' (Quran Surah 36:52)
He makes likenesses of Us and forgets his own creation, saying, 'Who will give life to bones when they are decayed?' (Quran Surah 36:78)
Say: 'He Who made them in the first place will bring them back to life. He has total knowledge of each created thing.' (Quran Surah 36:79)
(They say,) 'When we are dead and turned to dust and bones will we then be raised up again alive? And our earlier ancestors as well?' Say: 'Yes, and you will be in a despicable state.' There will be but one Great Blast and then their eyes will open. (Quran Surah 37:16-19)
One of them will say, 'I used to have a friend who would say to me, "Are you one of those who say that it is true: that when we have died and are turned to dust and bones, we will face a Reckoning?"' (Quran Surah 37:51-53)
Had it not been that he was a man who glorified Allah, he would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are raised again. (Quran Surah 37:143-144)
Say 'He Who made them in the first place will bring them back to life. He has total knowledge of each created thing.' (Quran Surah 36:79)
He (Satan) said, 'My Lord, grant me a reprieve until the Day they are raised again.' (Quran Surah 38:79)
They will say, 'Our Lord, twice You caused us to die and twice You gave us life. We admit our wrong actions. Is there no way out?' (Quran Surah 40:11)
Among His Signs is that you see the earth laid bare and then when We send down water on it, it quivers and swells. He Who gives it life is He Who gives life to the dead. Certainly He has power over all things. (Quran Surah 41:39)
Have they then taken others besides Him as protectors? But Allah is the Protector. He gives life to the dead. He has power over all things. (Quran Surah 42:9)
It is He Who sends down water in due measure from the sky by which We bring a dead land back to life. That is how you too will be brought forth. (Quran Surah 43:11)
These people say, 'There is nothing more than our first death. We will not be raised up a second time.' (Quran Surah 44:34-35)
And in the alternation of night and day and the provision Allah sends down from the sky, bringing the earth to life by it after it has died, and the varying direction of the winds, there are Signs for people who use their intellect. (Quran Surah 45:5)
They say, 'There is nothing but our existence in this world. We die and we live and nothing destroys us except for time.' They have no knowledge of that. They are only conjecturing. (Quran Surah 45:24)
When Our Clear Signs are recited to them their only argument is to say, 'Bring us our fathers (back) if you are telling the truth.' (Quran Surah 45:25)
Say: 'Allah gives you life, then causes you to die, and then will gather you together for the Day of Rising about which there is no doubt. But most people do not know it.' (Quran Surah 45:26)
But what of him who says to his parents, 'Fie on you! Do you promise me that I will be resurrected when generations before me have passed away?' They both call on Allah for help: 'Woe to you! Believe! Allah's promise is true.' But he says, 'This is nothing but the myths of previous peoples.' (Quran Surah 46:17)
Do they not see that Allah-He Who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by creating them-has the power to bring the dead to life? Yes indeed! He has power over all things. (Quran Surah 46:33)
(Disbelievers say,) 'When we are dead and turned to dust...? That would be a most unlikely return!' (Quran Surah 50:3)
(We sent down water) as provision for Our servants; by it We brought a dead land to life. That is how the Emergence will take place. (Quran Surah 50:11)
The Day they hear the Blast in truth, that is the Day of Emergence. (Quran Surah 50:42)
It is We Who give life and cause to die and We are their final destination. (Quran Surah 50:43)
(Has he not been informed) that He is responsible for the second existence? (Quran Surah 53:47)
On the Day Allah raises up all of them together, He will inform them of what they did. Allah has recorded it while they have forgotten it. Allah is a Witness of all things. (Quran Surah 58:6)
On the Day Allah raises up all of them together they will swear to Him just as they have sworn to you and imagine they have something to stand upon. No indeed! It is they who are the liars. (Quran Surah 58:18)
Those who disbelieve claim that they will never be raised again. Say: 'Oh yes, by my Lord, you certainly will be raised again! And then you will be informed about what you did. That is easy for Allah.' (Quran Surah 64:7)
Allah caused you to grow from the earth then will return you to it and bring you out again. (Quran Surah 71:17-18)
They thought-as you also think-that Allah would never raise up anyone. (Quran Surah 72:7)
Is He Who does this not able to bring the dead to life? (Quran Surah 75:40)
They will say, 'Are we to be restored to how we were?' (Quran Surah 79:10)
Then, when He wills, He raises him from the dead. (Quran Surah 80:22)
Do such people not realise that they will be raised up? (Quran Surah 83:4)
He originates and regenerates. (Quran Surah 85:13)
