SIMILARITIES BETWEEN JESUS’S TEACHINGS AND ISLAM

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN JESUS’S TEACHINGS AND ISLAM

Who are the Real Followers of Jesus, Christians or Muslims?

Robin Scott Scott Christians and Muslims are more alike than different.

Please read that which I have discovered. ~~ Robin1.

Jesus taught that there is only One God and Only God should be worshipped as taught in Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29.

Muslims also believe this as taught in the Qur’an verse 4:171.2.

Jesus didn’t eat pork as taught in Leviticus 11:7, and neither do Muslims as taught in the Qur’an verse 6:145.3.

Jesus greeted with the words “as salaamu alaikum” (Peace be with you) in John 20:21. Muslims also greet each other this way.4.

Jesus always said “God Willing” (inshallah), Muslims say this too before doing anything as taught in the Qur’an verses 18:23-24.5.

Jesus washed his face, hands, and feet before praying. The Muslims do the same. 6.

Jesus and other prophets of the Bible prayed with their head to the ground (see Matthew26:39). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verse 3:43.7.

Jesus had a beard and wore a throbe. It is Sunnah for Muslim men to do the same.8.

Jesus followed the law and believed in all the prophets, (see Matthew 5:17). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verses 3:84, and 2:285.9.

Jesus’ mother Maryam dressed modestly by fully covering her body and wearing a headscarf (hijab) as found in 1 Timothy 2:9, Genesis 24:64-65, and Corinthians 11:6. Muslim women modestly dress the same as taught in the Qur’an verse 33:59.10.

Jesus and other prophets of the Bible fasted up to 40 days (see Exodus 34:28, Daniel 10:2-6. 1Kings 19:8, and Matthew 4:1- Muslims do so also during the month of Ramadan. Muslims are required to fast the full obligatory 30 days (see Qur’an 2:183), and others take it a step further by fasting an additional 6 days to increase their rewards.11.

Jesus taught to say “Peace to this house”  it (see Luke 10:5), and to also greet the people in the house with “peace be unto you”. Muslims do exactly what Jesus did and taught. When we enter our homes and the homes of others we say “Bismillah” and also greet with “as salaamu alaikum” (peace be upon you) as taught in the Qur’an verse 24:61.12.

Jesus was circumcised. Circumcision is 1 of the 5 fitrah in Islam, so Muslim men are required to be circumcised. According to the Bible in Luke 2:21, Jesus was eight days old when he was circumcised.

In the Torah, Allah/God stated to the Prophet Abraham that it is an “Everlasting covenant” (see Genesis 17:13). In the Qur’an verse 16:123 Muslims are required to follow the religion of Abraham. The Prophet Muhammad said, “The Prophet Abraham circumcised himself when he was eighty years old.”13.

Jesus spoke aramaic and called God”Elah”, which is pronounced the same as “Allah”. Aramaic is an ancient, Biblical language. It is one of the Semitic languages that also include Hebrew, Arabic, Ethiopic and the ancient Assyrian and Babylonian language of Akkadian.

The Aramaic”Elah” and the Arabic “Allah” are the same. The Aramaic “Elah” is derived from the Arabic “Allah”, and it means “GOD”. “Allah” in Arabic also means”GOD”, the Supreme GOD Almighty.

You can easily see the similarity in their pronunciation so this concludes that the God of Jesus is also the God of the Muslims, of all mankind, and all that exist. (ze shared)

DEBATE BETWEEN MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN NEIGHBORS

Question: What If I Accept Jesus As My Lord And Saviour?

A neighbouring Christian keep pestering Muslim to accept Jesus as his Lord and saviour. They are very close, and he knows him very well. He (Muslim) only asked Christian few questions as follows:

1)      If I should follow your faith, then:

I should patronized so low and depart my gracious and glorious way of Life?

2)      To drop my belief that God is One and agree He is 3 in 1?

3)      To stop prostrating and bowing to my creator?

4)      To stop fasting in the holy month of Ramadan?

5)      To believe that God died?

6)      To stop saying "peace be upon you" as my way of greeting?

7)      To stop reciting the Glorious Quran?

8)      To learn how to clap, sing and dance instead of standing, bowing and prostrating in Night Prayers?

9)      To begin to shake hands, hug, peck and possibly kiss opposite sex and say my faith is in the hearts?

10)   To begin drinking alcohol and say only excess is bad?

11)   To begin eating pork and say only the heart is defiled?

12)   To engage in interest/usury and say nothing is bad?

13)   To urinate without cleaning up and say only spirit needs to be purified?

14)   To defecate and use tissue paper to rub anus and move on with life?

15)   To mingle freely with women in a free- for-all dance and call it praise and worship?

16)   To see live bosom and indecent dressings in the church and say we are living by his grace?

17)   To give 10% of my income to who needs a Jet to fly, instead of giving zakat to the

Needy/poor?

18)   To accuse all the Noble prophets of God of fornication, Robbery, Inbreeding, Alcoholism, molest, arson, suicide, genocide, infanticide, stealing, dark Magic etc. as seen in stories of d bible?

How could I quit light for darkness? At the end, I told him "I'd rather be a slave & servant of Allah (swt) my creator, than to slave for a man like Paul who founded Christianity".

Islam is a way of life, more than religion or belief.

Yah Allah! You created me, and in your Hand is My soul, Please Let me and my brothers & sisters in Islam die as Muslims, forgive and pardon us, and admit us into Jannatl Firdaus.

We shall forever worship none but You (God – Allah {SWT}).

We thus departed as Al-Kafiroon Chapter 109;
In The Name Of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Say: ‘’O ye that reject Faith! (1)

I worship not that which ye worship, (2)

Nor will ye worship that which I worship. (3)

And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, (4)

Nor will ye worship that which I worship. (5)

To you be your Way, and to me mine. (6)’’

ISLAM IS THE GREATEST BLESSING FOR MAN KIND.

WAR WITH ALLAH (SWT)

WAR WITH ALLAH (SWT)

Assembled by Mallam Abba Abana, Kubwa, Abuja, Nigeria

http://variousislamicdawadocuments.blogspot.com

Emails:gonidamgamiri@yahoo.com; abba.abana@gmail.com

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah. As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

Praise be to Allaah; we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

1.0 BORROWING FROM A RIBA-BASED BANK IN ORDER TO BUY A HOUSE

Dealing with riba (usury, interest) is a major sin against which Allaah has issued a stern warning. He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Fear Allaah and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribaa (from now onward) if you are (really) believers. 279. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums)” [Holy Quran Chapter al-Baqarah 2:278]

“Those who eat Ribaa will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaytaan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: “Trading is only like Riba,” whereas Allaah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba. So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba, shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allaah (to judge); but whoever returns (to Riba), such are the dwellers of the Fire — they will abide therein” [Holy Quran Chapter al-Baqarah 2:275]

And it was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5962. In the transaction asked about here, both the individual and the bank are giving and taking riba. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A dirham which a man consumes as riba knowingly is worse before Allaah than thirty-six acts of zina.” Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabaraani; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3375. And he said: “There are seventy-two types of riba, the least of which is like a man committing incest with his mother.” Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Awsat; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3537.

The scholars are unanimously agreed that every loan involving interest or any kind of benefit is haraam. Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Every loan in which it is stipulated that an additional payment be made is haraam, with no scholarly dispute. Ibn al-Mundhir said: They are unanimously agreed that if the lender stipulates that the borrower must pay extra or give a gift, and he gives the loan on this basis, this is riba. It was narrated from Ubayy ibn Ka’b, Ibn ‘Abbaas and Ibn Mas’ood that they forbade loans that lead to any kind of benefit (extra payment, gifts, etc).  Al-Mughni, 6/436.

With regard to the idea of you renting the house until the loan is paid off, after which it will be yours, this is also haraam.

To sum up, this transaction is haraam and it is darkness upon darkness. It is not permissible for a Muslim to take the matter of riba transactions lightly after the stern warning about such transactions has been proven and it has been definitively established that they are haraam. Rather what he must do is to seek that which is halaal, for everybody that is nourished by haraam, the Fire is more suited for it. But whoever gives up something for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will compensate him with something better than it.

The Standing Committee was asked about the Islamic ruling on taking a loan from a riba-based bank in order to build a modest house. They replied:

It is haraam to take a loan from banks or elsewhere with riba, whether that is to build something or to spend it on food, clothing or medical expenses or to start a business and earn more money, or any other purpose, because of the general meaning of the verses that forbid riba, and the general meaning of the ahaadeeth which indicate that it is haraam. Similarly it is not permissible to deposit money in banks etc that pay interest.

And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessing and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.  Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (13/385).

2.0 BANK CREDIT CARDS

Nowadays almost every one of us availing facility of CREDIT CARDS and consumer financing (Leasing of Cars, Easy Loans etc.) from banks.

Did we ever think that by doing this we are directly involved in INTEREST (Riba) which according to holy Quran is just like involving ourselves in “War with Allah and His Messenger”.  Allah (swt) says in holy Quran:

[Holy Quran Chapter 2:278] O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and give up what remains of your demand for usury, if ye are indeed believers.
[Holy Quran Chapter 2:279] If ye do it not, Take notice of war from Allah and His Messenger: But if ye turn back, ye shall have your capital sums: Deal not unjustly, and ye shall not be dealt with unjustly.

[Holy Quran Chapter 3:130] O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah; that ye may (really) prosper.

On the other hand after availing such facilities and having Credit Cards in the wallet we are also performing SALAT (Prayers) and try to become true Muslim.

We should think about the fate of our good deeds (Aamal-e-Saleh) especially when we are directly involved in war with Allah (Swt) and his Messenger.

We should avoid dealing in INTEREST as much as it is in our control if we want our prayers to be accepted by ALLAH (Swt).  One might say that he/she tries to return the amount before the interest is charged but there are very much chances that the cheque is misplaced or some sort of dispute of wrong entries arise at later stage.

A large number of people using Credit Cards are involved in disputes and have complaints against banks.   It’s a sort of temptation that whether you have money or not in the pocket you will spend through Card as nothing is going from you at that time (Human psychology). This is also a reason of living beyond the limit. So its better to have Debit Card instead of Credit Card, have Current Account instead of saving and avoid taking loans from banks on interest.

People say that one can’t do business without it and whole country is on Interest/Usury, BUT something which is in our control/choice could be avoided.  Doing business on interest is not must.  There are people who sacrifice the worldly benefits due to not involving in interest.  We can’t remove SIN from the society but at least can struggle against it by not involving in it.

REMEMBER! The order of Allah (swt) is final as the holy Quran is final till the last day. People who argue that in present time it’s not possible to avoid INTEREST, Do they want to say that while ordering in Quran, Allah (swt) didn't know the future that people will face such & such problems?  Actually this life is test for us as Allah (swt) says:

[Holy Quran Chapter 29:2] Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested?
[Holy Quran Chapter 29:3] We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.

3.0 IS IT PERMISSIBLE FOR ONE WHO HAS TAKEN OUT A RIBA-BASED LOAN TO RECEIVE ZAKAAH IN ORDER TO PAY OFF HIS DEBT?

We ask Allah, may He be exalted, to forgive you and pardon you for what you have done, for riba is a major sin, concerning which there are warnings such as have not been issued with regard to other sins. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe! Fear Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribaa (from now onward) if you are (really) believers. 279. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger”[ Holy Quran Chapter al-Baqarah 2:278-279]

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same. Narrated by Muslim (1598).

If you have repented from this riba-based transaction and have resolved not to do it again, and you regret having done it, but it is not possible to avoid paying this interest because the system obliges you to repay loans with interest, then there is no reason why your relative should not help you to pay off this debt, and there is no sin on him in doing so, because that comes under the heading of relieving your distress.

The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2442) and Muslim (2580).

Moreover, the longer your repayment of the debt is delayed, the more the interest that you owe will accumulate. As for helping one who has repented to pay off debt, there is nothing wrong with that, and it does not come under the heading of helping in committing evil in any way whatsoever, so the one who wants to help may give some of his zakaah to the debtor, if the latter does not have wealth surplus to his needs with which to pay off his debt.

The scholars have stated that if one who got into debt for a haraam purpose has repented to Allah, there is nothing wrong with giving him zakaah funds with which to pay off his debt.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Question: if a person gets into debt for a haraam purpose, can we give him zakaah?

Answer: if he has repented, we may give him (zakaah funds), otherwise we may not, because in that case it is helping in something haraam. In that case, if we give him he will go into debt again. End quote from ash-Sharh al-Mumti‘ (6/235)

Dr. ‘Umar Sulaymaan al-Ashqar said: If a person takes out a riba-based loan, it is not permissible to pay off his debt from zakaah funds aimed at helping debtors, unless he repents from having dealt in riba. End quote from Abhaath an-Nadwah al-Khaamisah li Qadaayaa az-Zakaah al-Mu‘aasirah (p. 210)

4.0 REPENTING FROM TAKING AN INTEREST-BASED LOAN

It is not permissible to take out riba/interest-based loans, from the bank or elsewhere, even if that is to prepare a house for marriage, because of the definite prohibition on riba (interest) and the stern warning against it. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from riba (from now onwards) if you are (really) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums).”[Holy Quran Chapter 2:278-279]

Muslim narrated that Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: “They are all the same.”

Ibn Qudamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Every loan in which it is stipulated that something extra be paid is haram (impermissible), and there is no difference of opinion on this point. Ibn al-Mundhir said: They were unanimously agreed that if the lender stipulates that the borrower must pay extra or give him a gift, and he gives the loan on the basis that he will take an additional payment for that, it is riba.  End quote from al-Mughni.

What the one who has taken out a riba-based loan has to do is repent to Allah and regret what he has done, and he has to resolve firmly not to go back to this great sin and serious crime, concerning which there is narrated a warning such as has not been narrated concerning any other sin. We ask Allah to keep us safe and sound.

Moreover, according to Islam you are not obliged to pay back any more than the capital; as for the haram interest, you are not obliged to pay it and it is not permissible for the lender to take it from you, because Allah says: “... but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums)”.

But if you fear harm and problems if you do not pay the interest, then pay it, and repent to Allah and feel dislike towards this great evil.

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan (may Allah preserve him) was asked: I borrowed one hundred pounds from one of my friends on the basis that I would pay him back one hundred and fifty. When the time to pay it back came, I tried to give him one hundred only, but he insisted on taking the extra amount of fifty pounds in return for the loan. What is the ruling on this extra amount? If this comes under the heading of riba, is there any sin on me, and how can I rid myself of it, knowing that the money that I borrowed from him has become mixed with my own money. What do I have to do?

He replied: Allah has forbidden riba and has issued a stern warning against it. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Those who eat riba will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaytan (Satan) leading him to insanity…O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from riba (from now onwards) if you are (really) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger.” [Holy Quran Chapter 2:275, 278-279]

There are many forms and types of riba. What you mention in the question is a loan with interest. The kind of loan that is allowed in Islam is al-qard al-hasan (a goodly loan) in which you lend something to your brother so that he may benefit from the loan, then he pays you back without any additional payment being stipulated and without paying less. This is the goodly loan. As for the loan which brings a benefit or the loan which is intended to bring a payment of interest, this is haram (unlawful) according to the consensus of the Muslims. It is haram according to the Quran and Sunnah (prophetic teachings) and the consensus of the Muslims, and a stern warning is issued to the one who does this. What should be done is to repay the amount that was borrowed; as for the additional payment which has been stipulated and taken from you, this is haram and is riba.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the two who witness it and the one who writes it down. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who helps him to consume it. So what you have done is haram and is a major sin, and you have to repent to Allah. He has to give this interest that he took back to you, because it is not permissible for him. You committed a haram action by giving him the interest. What you should have done is to refrain from paying interest.

What you have done is blatant riba, so you both have to repent to Allah and not do any such transaction again. The other person has to return the interest that he took. And Allah knows best. End quote from al-Muntaqa min Fatawa al-Shaykh al-Fawzan.

Remember that the more quickly you get rid of this loan, the better it will be, so that you may rid yourself of riba and its effects.

So it is better for you to hasten to pay it off and to use the money that you were going to use for ‘Umrah to rid yourself of this debt.

We ask Allah to heal your son and to relieve your distress, and make you independent of means from halal (lawful) sources so that you will have no need of anything haram.

And Allaah knows best.

1.0 DAILY FIVE PRAYERS AND TWO FARD RAK‘AHS OF JUMU‘AH, THEN AFTER THAT IMAM TURNS AROUND AND OFFER DU‘AA’ TOGETHER.

What the believers should do is follow the example of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with regard to what he did and did not do. He should do what the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did and refrain from that from which the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) refrained. Allah, may He be exalted, said (interpretation of the meaning):

“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day ...”[HOLY QURAN CHAPTER al-Ahzaab 33:21].

Du‘aa’ by the imam after an obligatory prayer – Jumu‘ah or otherwise – with the congregation saying Ameen is something that was not done by the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) or by any of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). If it was good, they would have done it before us.

Based on that, this action comes under the heading of reprehensible innovation. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you lives after I am gone will see great disputes; you must adhere to my Sunnah and the way of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Hold on to it and cling fast to it. And beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is a going astray.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4607; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces something into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.”Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2697; Muslim, 1718.

Ash-Shaatibi (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned congregational du‘aa’ after the obligatory prayer in his book al-I‘tisaam (1/349-355), and explained that this is an innovation, because that was not done by the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) or by any of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) or any of the imams (leading scholars) after them.

What you must do is refrain from this innovation and strive to recite the adhkaar and du‘aa’s that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to say after the prayer. And whoever wants to offer du‘aa’ may do so quietly.

2.0 DU'AA AFTER OBLIGATORY AND VOLUNTARY PRAYERS ARE INNOVATION?

Shaykh al-‘Uthaymeen: Making supplication after the obligatory prayers is an innovation because the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) did not do it and everyone who worships Allaah with something the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) did not enjoin, and it is established that it is from his Sharee’ah, such would be considered an act of innovation based of the statement of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam): “Every newly invented matter is an innovation.”

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) guided [his Ummah] to the time of making supplication in Salaah. He said: ‘As regards prostration, exert yourselves in supplication in it, for it is most likely that you will be answered.” The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) also said to Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) when he was teaching him the tashahhud: “Then he should select whichever supplication he wishes.” That is, before terminating the prayer. Just as the texts of the Sharee’ah indicate that supplication in Salaah should be before salaam, sound contemplation also points to that. This is because as long as a person is in Salaah, he is communicating with his Lord and he is in front of Him. So why should he delay the supplication till after he terminates the Salaah and cuts the link between him and his Lord in his prayer? This is contrary to sound contemplation.

On the basis of this, we say: it is recommended to remember Allaah after completing the Salaah and make supplication before salaam based on the saying of Allaah: “And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allaah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides” Soorah an-Nisaa:103. As regards making supplication after voluntary prayer, it is also contrary to the Sunnah because it has not been reported from the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) that he used to make supplication after voluntary prayer. So if you love to make supplication, call upon Allaah the exalted before you complete your Salaah as we mentioned earlier regarding the obligatory prayers.

3.0  DHIKR RECITED IN UNISON FOLLOWING THE PRAYERS

With regard to dhikr recited in unison, the Standing Committee was asked about du’aa’ and dhikr recited in unison, and they answered:

The basic principle concerning dhikr and acts of worship is that there is no room for adding or subtracting anything. Allaah should only be worshipped in the ways that He has prescribed; this applies whether it is something that can be done at any time or something that is limited to a specific time and how it is to be done and how many times it is to be done. With regard to dhikrs and du’aa’s that Allaah has prescribed and all kinds of worship that are not limited with regard to time and numbers, location or a particular way in which they are to be done, it is not permissible for us to adhere to a particular way, time or number; rather we are to do these acts of worship without restrictions as it was prescribed.

In matters where it is proven in the words or deeds of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that an action is to be done at a certain time or a certain number of times or in a certain place or in a certain manner, then we should worship Allaah in accordance with what has been prescribed. It has not been proven from the words or deeds or approval of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that he recited du’aa’ in unison with others following the prayers, or after reading Qur’aan, or following each lesson, whether that took the form of the imaam reciting du’aa’ and the congregation saying Ameen to his du’aa’, or whether they all recited du’aa’ together in unison. That was not known at the time of the Rightly-Guided Khaleefahs or any of the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them). Whoever adheres to the practice of reciting du’aa’ in unison following the prayers or after reading Qur’aan or after every lesson has innovated something and introduced into the religion something which is not a part of it. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not part of it will have it rejected.” And he said: “Whoever does something that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (Islam) will have it rejected.”

If it were prescribed to adhere to a certain way of doing it, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his successors (khulafa’) after him would have adhered to that. We have stated above that no such thing was proven from him or from his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them). All goodness is to be found in following the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the guidance of the Rightly-Guided Khulafa’ (may Allaah be pleased with them); all evil is to be found in going against their guidance and following the innovated matters against which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) warned us by saying, “Beware of newly-innovated matters, for every innovation is misguidance.” May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, and grant them peace.  Fataawa Islamiyyah, 4/178

4.0 MAKING DU’AA’ AFTER THE OBLIGATORY PRAYERS IS BID’AH

It says in Fatawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah

Making du’aa’ after the obligatory prayers is not Sunnah if it is done by raising the hands, whether that is done by the imam alone or a member of the congregation alone, or it is done by them both together. Rather that is bid’ah, because it was not narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or any of his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them) did that. With regard to making du’aa’ without doing that (raising the hands etc.), there is nothing wrong with it, because there are some ahaadeeth concerning that. Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, 7/103

The Committee was asked about raising the hands for du’aa’ after the five daily prayers – is it proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) raised his hands or not? If it is not proven, is it permissible to raise the hands after the five daily prayers or not?

They replied: It is not proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) raised his hands in du’aa’ after the obligatory prayers as far as we know, so raising them after the salaam of an obligatory prayer is contrary to the Sunnah. Fataawa al-Lajnah, 7/104

The Committee also stated that saying du’aa’ out loud after the five daily prayers or regular Sunnah prayers, or reciting du’aa’ in unison as a regular practice is a reprehensible innovation (bid’ah), because it was not proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them) did anything like that. Whoever makes du’aa’ after the obligatory or regular Sunnah prayers in unison is going against the way of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, and for those people to accuse those who disagree with them of being kaafirs and not belonging to Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, is misguidance, ignorance and a distortion of the facts. Fataawa Islamiyyah, 1/319

And Allaah knows best.

A FORGOTTEN COVENANT

A FORGOTTEN COVENANT

“This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them. Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.

No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.

No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.

No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.

Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).”*

Such were the memorable words of Prophet Muhammad Description: http://www.islamicity.com/global/images/photo/Other/saws1%5b26x22%5d.JPGin the year 628 CE, when he granted this historic document, also known as the Charter of Privileges, to the monks of St. Catherine Monastery in Mt. Sinai. It consisted of several clauses covering all aspects of human rights including such topics as the protection of Christians living under Islamic rule, freedom of worship and movement, freedom to appoint their own judges and to own and maintain their property, exemption from military service, and the right to protection in war.

In the spirit of this and numerous other authoritative Islamic texts, one wonders why contemporary policy makers in the West insist on supporting the secular, corrupt, and authoritarian regimes of the predominantly Muslim nations. What is the wisdom of allocating billions of dollars to overthrow, through well-crafted public and covert operations, the popularly and legitimately elected Muslim governments? Have the West’s ‘experts‘ on the Middle East, the Orientalists and the national security advisers hijacked Western political institutions as the latter hijacked the legitimate government of, for example, Iran’s democratic Mosadeq regime, or the Algerian peaceful election that guaranteed Muslim control, and many more cases? Should the predominantly Christian West fear and fight genuine Islamic regimes or should it change its outlook by trusting those who uphold God’s Words and Muhammad’s Description: http://www.islamicity.com/global/images/photo/Other/saws1%5b26x22%5d.JPGcommands above secular and cultural values?
