Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah. As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu.
Praise be to Allaah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides cannot be misled, and whomsoever He leaves astray cannot be guided. I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger (Sallalhu Alaihi Wa Salaam).
Explanation of Luqman [holy Quran chapter 31: 33]
(Qur'an chapter 31.33. O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord, and fear a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true, let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver deceive you about Allah.)
Here Allah warns people about the Day of Resurrection, and commands them to fear Him and remember the Day of Resurrection when
(no father can avail aught for his son,) which means, even if he wanted to offer himself as a sacrifice for his son, it would not be accepted from him.
The same will apply in the case of a son who wants to sacrifice himself for his father -- it will not be accepted from him. Then Allah reminds them once again with the words:
﴿فَلاَ تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَوةُ الدُّنْيَا﴾
(let not then this present life deceive you,) meaning, do not let your feelings of contentment with this life make you forget about the Hereafter.
(nor let the chief deceiver deceive you about Allah.) refers to the Shaytan. This was the view of Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, Ad-Dahhak and Qatadah.
The Shaytan makes promises to them and arouses in them false desires, but there is no substance to them, as Allah says:
﴿يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمْ الشَّيْطَـنُ إِلاَّ غُرُوراً ﴾
(He makes promises to them, and arouses in them false desires; and Shaytan's promises are nothing but deceptions.)
(Holy Quran Chapter 4:120). Wahb bin Munabbih said: `Uzayr, peace be upon him, said: "When I saw the misfortune of my people, I felt very sad and distressed, and I could not sleep, so I prayed to my Lord and fasted, and I called upon Him weeping. There came to me an angel and I said to him: `Tell me, will the souls of the righteous intercede for the wrongdoers, or the fathers for their sons' He said: `On the Day of Resurrection all matters will be settled, and Allah's dominion will be made manifest and no exceptions will be made. No one will speak on that Day except with the permission of the Most Merciful. No father will answer for his son, or any son for his father, or any man for his brother, or any servant for his master. No one will care about anybody except himself, or feel grief or compassion for anyone except himself. Everyone will be worried only about himself. No one will be asked about anybody else. Each person will be concerned only about himself, weeping for himself and carrying his own burden. No one will carry the burden of another.''' This was recorded by Ibn Abi Hatim.
Explanation of Luqman [holy Quran chapter 31: 34]
(Qur'an chapter 31.34. Verily, Allah, with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware.) The Knower of the Unseen is Allah. These are the keys of the Unseen, whose knowledge Allah alone has kept for Himself, and no one else knows them unless Allah tells him about them. The knowledge of `when the Hour will occur' is not known to any Prophet who was sent or any angel who is close to Allah.
(None can reveal its time but He)
(Holy Quran Chapter 7:187). Similarly, no one but Allah knows when rain will fall, but when He issues the commands, the angels who are entrusted with the task of bringing rain know about it, as do those among His creation whom He wills should know. No one but He knows what is in the wombs of what He wants to create, but when He decrees whether it is to be male or female, and whether it is to be blessed or doomed, the angels who are entrusted with that know about it, as do those among His creation whom He wills should know. No one knows what he will earn tomorrow with regard to this world or the Hereafter.
(and no person knows in what land he will die.) in his own land or elsewhere, in some other land. No one knows this. This Ayah is like the Ayah,
(And with Him are the keys of the Unseen, none knows them but He.)
(Holy Quran Chapter 6:59) It was reported in the Sunnah that the above five things are called the Keys of the Unseen. Imam Ahmad recorded that Buraydah said that he heard the Messenger of Allah say:
(There are five things which no one knows except Allah:
(Verily, Allah, with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware.))
The chain of narrators for this Hadith is Sahih, although they did not recorded it.
2.0 QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION
Question: Could you please explain me the last verse of Surah Luqman. Does Allah give any of this knowledge of unseen to his prophets?
Answer

Explanation of Luqman [Holy Quran Chapter 31: 34]
Fatwa No: 84428 (Fatwa Date: 6-7-2002 - Rabee' Al-Aakhir 26, 1423)
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Your question is about the last verse of Surah Luqman. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): in this verse: {Verily Allah, with Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware (of things).} [Holy Quran Chapter 31: 34].
This verse states and identifies the five things of the unseen that are peculiar to Allah only and nobody else can know them. These things are:
First, the knowledge of the Hour of the Last Day, i.e. knowledge of when it will come. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): "When will be its appointed time?" Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone). None can reveal its time but He. …} [Holy Quran Chapter 7: 187].
Second, sending down the rain, i.e. Allah is the Only One who can send down rain and who knows when it will be sent. It should be mentioned here the weather reporters might forecast when the rain is going to fall. But their forecast is founded on probabilities not on certainty.
Third, Allah is the One Who "Knows that which is in the wombs!" He Knows the gender of fetus (male or female). He Knows whether this fetus will be a good person or a bad one, whether he will live happily or otherwise. The fact that doctors can now know the sex of the fetus while in the womb is not in contradiction with the verse: {"And (He) Knows that which in the wombs"} : The Knowledge of Allah regarding this fetus is anterior to the fetus' formation in its mother's womb. In fact, doctors can define the sex of the fetus only in the buildup stage but not in the emanation one. The semen goes through two stages. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Allâh knows what every female bears, and by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number) or exceed. …} [Holy Quran Chapter 13: 8].
So, Allah kept the knowledge of the semen emanation stage as part of the unseen. The evidence for this is the Hadith reported by al-Bukhari from Abdullah Ibn Umar that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: Allah's Apostle said, "The keys of unseen are five which none knows but Allah: None knows what will happen tomorrow but Allah; none knows what is in the wombs (a male child or a female) but Allah; none knows when it will rain but Allah; none knows at what place one will die; none knows when the Hour will be established but Allah" .
So, what Allah kept in the unseen as far as the semen is concerned is the stage when the womb falls short of its time or number not the build up stage. This is what Ibn Katheer mentioned before modern medicine.
Fourth, Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {… No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. …} [Holy Quran Chapter 31: 34].
That means no soul can determine what it will get tomorrow from this world.
Fifth, {… and no person knows in what land he will die …} [Holy Quran Chapter 31: 34].
No soul knows where Allah will cause its death.
As for whether Allah Gives any of the knowledge of the unseen to His Prophets, the answer is given in the following verse: {"(He Alone) the All-Knower of the Ghâ'ib (unseen), and He reveals to none His Ghâ'ib (unseen)." Except to a Messenger (from mankind) whom He has chosen (He informs him of unseen as much as He likes),…} [Holy Quran Chapter 72: 26-27].
Al-Shawkani (a great scholar of Tafseer) says that 'what is meant in this verse is that Allah does not disclose any of the unseen He Keeps for Himself to anybody except to a Messenger whom He has chosen. This disclosure helps the Messenger prove his Prophethood'.
Al-Qurtubi (another great scholar of Tafseer) says: 'when Allah The Almighty chose to take exclusive possession of the unseen this means that the unseen is concealed from everybody except the chosen Messengers. Allah made as an exception. In fact, He (Allah) let, these Messengers know some of the unseen through revelation and made that a miracle for them that proves undoubtedly that they are Messengers from Allah'.
Allah knows best.
3.0 ALLAH KNOWS WHAT IS IN WOMBS.
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Asaalamulaikum,
Dear Sir, I heard our Masjid Imam who is a Mufti, telling that Allah Subahanhu Talah has mentioned in Quran that, He has kept 5 things secret from Human Beings knowledge, one of them he mentioned was, What is in the womb of the pregnant woman, he explicitly said, whether it is boy or Girl. (I ask apology, I dont remember Surah he mentioned)m, and another one was when it will rain.
You know, now a days science has progressed and sex detection test can accurately know the sex of an embroyo , even if there is any defromation.
Weather forecast can if not accurate but still can give us some details about rain etc.
Please comment, I am very much disturbed since I heard this.
Regards, Salman

Answer:
Allah knows what is in wombs
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Statement: .I heard our Masjid Imam who is a Mufti, telling that Allah Subahanhu Talah has mentioned in Quran that, He has kept 5 things secret from Human Beings knowledge
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 34:
31.34 Verily the Knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (alone). It is He Who sends down rain and He Who knows what is in the wombs. Nor does anyone know what it is that he will earn on the morrow: nor does anyone know in what land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things).
It is obviously not an accurate statement that there are only five things which the Lord All-Knowing All-Aware has kept hidden or secret from human beings!!! The Truth is that Allah Subhanah Alone is the All-Knowing, All-Wise, and Possesses Perfect Knowledge of Absolutely Everything in existence.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 73:
6.73 It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): the day He saith "Be" Behold! it is! His Word is the Truth. His will be the dominion the Day the trumpet will be blown. He knoweth the Unseen as well as that which is open. For He is the Wise well acquainted (with all things)
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 59-60:
6.59 With Him are the keys of the Unseen the treasures that none knoweth but He. He knoweth whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered) but is (inscribed) in a Record Clear.
6.60 It is He Who doth take your souls by night and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day. By day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; in the end unto Him will be your return then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.
Your Question: ..You know, now a days science has progressed and sex detection test can accurately know the sex of an embroyo , even if there is any deformation. Weather forecast can if not accurate but still can give us some details about rain etc.
Respected brother, indeed modern science and technology have only recently developed tools that enable them to see what is developing in a mother’s womb; and only after studying the formation and creation of the Creator inside the mother’s womb through their tools, they are able to ascertain the sex of the unborn child or its formation/deformation.. this determination of the doctors obviously is not from amongst the knowledge of the unseen, but rather their determination is from the knowledge of what is seen!!!!
But if a doctor or any one in creation could look at an infant and declare if, whether, and when this infants first-born will be a male or a female, or whether this infant will bear any children if and when it grows up, or what exactly will the formation/deformation of their children, etc. that then would be from the knowledge of the unseen!!!! Obviously no one in creation possesses that knowledge. Such knowledge of the unseen is with Allah Subhanah Alone!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 13 Surah Raad verse 8:
13.8 Allah doth know what every female (womb) doth bear, by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number), or do exceed. Every single thing is before His Sight in (due) proportion.
Similarly an expert in the use of weather-forecasting tools can study the formation of the existent clouds through their developed tools and predict whether or not it would rain in the coming few days but is there any one in creation who can predict when and where and how much exactly it will rain next year or ten years later or a hundred years later????
Obviously no one in creation possesses that knowledge. Such knowledge of the unseen is with the Lord of the Worlds Alone!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
